    From the Desk of Secretary Treasurer Tom Quackenbush

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,

     It gives me great pleasure to let you know our Local is as financially sound as it has ever been.  Although the Mergers of Local 669 and 182 into our Local initially caused a bit of a strain, our local has seen its assets grow!

    Good fiscal practices, prudent managerial decisions that have been implemented and teamwork throughout the office have attributed to our Local having current assets at almost $1.9 Million dollars.

    All of these things have allowed us to leverage our financial strength to benefit our members with strong contracts, arbitration procedures, and growing through organizing. We continue to have some of the strongest contracts in our industries with the best wages and language.

    With President Bulgaro’s leadership, a strong financial discipline, proper budgeting, and the team effort we have…. I see great things happening for the future of our local!

  • BENEFIT ELIGIBILTY

    Eligibility for Medical and Dental Benefits

     FULL-TIMERS: In order to maintain your benefits you must work at least Thirty-six (36) DAYS during a scheduled Three (3) month period to be entitled to benefits for the following three months. If you don’t work 36 days in the previous benefit period you will not be eligible for benefits in the current period. Benefits will only resume in the following period if 36+ days are worked in the current period. Excess days worked in one 3 month period do not carry over to the next three (3) month period.

     PART-TIMERS: In order to maintain your benefits you must work at least 210 HOURS during a scheduled Three (3) month period to be entitled to benefits for the following three months. (PT Air & Gateway = 180 hrs./qtr., PT Cover Drivers = 192 hrs./qtr.) That means you must average at least 17.5 hours per week (assuming a 12 week period to be on the safe side) to be eligible for benefits.  If you don’t work 210 hours in the previous benefit period you will not be eligible for benefits in the current period. Benefits will only resume in the following period if 210+ hours are worked in the current period. Excess hours worked in one 3 month period do not carry over to the next 3 month period.

    Utilize the chart below to ensure you will maintain your benefits.  You must work your hour or days requirement during the qualifying period to be eligible for benefits in the eligibility period.

    UPS Teamsters have fought and bargained for rights under the collective bargaining process, it is our job to protect those rights.  As a UPS Teamster seek out your Shop Steward, the tasks of a 294 Steward are often burdensome but they will always make time for new members.  Upon obtaining seniority; grab a contract, ask questions and get involved.
    Protect your Hourly Guarantee

    All UPS members have a contractual guarantee when told to report to work as scheduled.  in most locations an Inside Part time employee is guaranteed a minimum of 3 1/2 hours of work while Ground delivery drivers are guaranteed  a minimum of 8 hours of work.  Not maintaining your guarantee can lead to loss of wages and benefits.
